Creativity in the Age of AI

Lead the Future of Creative Work with Confidence

A research-led programme helping creative leaders shape the future of creative practice and industry

Why this Programme?

Based on Julian Stodd’s acclaimed book Engines of Engagement, this three-part workshop explores both the individual act of creativity and the industrial structures within which it is held. It asks whether our future creative expression is synergistic, predatory, an opportunity, or a point of fracture.

Through dialogue and hands-on creation you’ll:

  • Examine what it means to be “creative” at a time when machines can paint, sing and write at our command.
  • Explore how emergent technologies are warping and fracturing the marketplace of ideas.
  • Understand the threats and opportunities for creative practice within the creative industries.
  • Develop strategies to navigate shifting perceptions and the societal value of creativity.

This programme is for creatives, creative leaders, and strategists seeking Social-Strategic Foresight to plan for the future.

Programme Format
  • Three online sessions of two hours each.
  • Dialogue-driven learning, with about 50% of each session in small-group work and paired activities.
  • Supported by curated video interviews with artists, musicians, researchers and writers.
  • Hands-on creative outputs designed to produce your own narrative of creative identity and a “sketch map” of where to carry your practice next.
The Three-Part Journey
  1. The Creative Act
    • Dive into what counts as “creative” and how you found your way to this identity. Explore where boundaries lie and what feels under threat, while creating your own illustration of your practice.
  2. The Industry of Creativity
    • Move beyond the individual to examine how creativity is valued, utilised and exploited. Discuss copyright, ownership, and culture; situate debates within an economic perspective on value and who decides what things are worth.
  3. Our Identity as Creative
    • Define and share your new story of self. Write, draw, film, or carve something to represent your emerging creative identity, anchored in the past, present and future. This culminates in a collective discussion on the value of human creativity in the Age of AI.
